Hotel El Trópico /2020
Hotel El Trópico is a hotel designed for the Escambrón beach area in San Juan, in Puerto Rico’s north coast. It was designed for Puerto Rico’s warm climate and salty breeze with its open layout and center courtyard. Before designing the hotel proposal, I took part in analysing another beachfront region, the neighborhood of Copacabana / Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro. This worked as a precedent for a masterplan for the area of El Escambrón and Puerta de Tierra in San Juan, and later on informed the design of a beachfront hotel in the tropics.

Collage composition of different analyses done on the southern coast neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro, such as topography, street sections, and spacial sequence. A collaboration with two other classmates.

Masterplan done on a section of the Puerta de Tierra subbarrio of San Juan, which includes the El Escambrón beach area. Changes include adding redirecting certain streets to better the vehicular flow, more green areas, redistribution of city blocks, a pier and pedestrian walkways.
