Librería HITO /2017

My final project as a first-year architecture student, the Librería Hito, is a library that doubles as a living space for a writer in the heart of the rural town of Coamo, Puerto Rico. The saying “you can’t judge a book by its cover” inspired its minimalist design, exemplified by its blind concrete façade juxtaposed with its open glass interior. Its modern and minimalist design and almost sculptural appearance make it stand out besides the traditional architecture that surrounds it, turning it into a type of landmark or milestone (which is the translation for hito).
